Name: University of Bath
Status: Part Time
Join the Pre-Award team in Research and Innovation Services (RIS) in this new and exciting role!
RIS is responsible for advancing the University's international reputation for research and knowledge transfer by:
increasing the volume of externally funded research
improving grant application success rates
enhancing strategic and operational support to academic departments
RIS is the primary conduit for industry, business and other funders to access the research expertise and knowledge of the University of Bath.
About the role:
Working as part of a small but busy team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring all externally funded research applications and awards meet with funder and university due diligence and compliance requirements. This is a unique opportunity to help develop and shape the way this activity takes place, in this brand-new role.
Working with the Head of Team as well as other Pre-Award colleagues, you will take ownership of the research-related due diligence processes within RIS at the University of Bath. These include detailed reviews of due diligence checks on collaborators, staff support and training, high-quality management reporting, along with improvement of the current processes as the landscape evolves.
This role is being advertised at 0.8fte. There is flexibility in this around number of days per week this 0.8fte is worked, and we may be able to offer a lower fte (minimum 0.6fte) to the right candidate, if that is helpful. Please feel free to contact us to discuss this prior to applying if important to you in deciding whether or not this role might be right for you and your personal circumstances.
The team is currently working fully remotely, with a view to returning to work on campus for part of the week from September 2021, and you should therefore expect to work at least 40% of your working week on campus (however, home working is not a requirement and you may also work all contracted hours on campus if you wish).
This role requires excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills along with a good understanding of the research funding landscape for the higher education sector.
You will also have:
skills to scrutinise sophisticated documents and draw out relevant information, with excellent attention to detail
self-confidence and the ability to stand your ground, remaining calm under pressure
good self-motivation and time-management
a good Honours degree or equivalent experience
We are a family friendly workplace and, as mentioned above, open to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the University. We recognise the talents of our diverse workforce through an excellent reward package including a generous employer pension scheme and annual leave entitlement and are encouraging of your personal and professional development, along with (but not limited to):
A flexible working environment
Ofsted outstanding rated onsite nursery
Salary exchange scheme (cycle to work)
Onsite private and NHS dentist, onsite medical centre
Employee discount scheme
